2nd International Oil Sands Tailings Conference 2010
The OSTRF and the Canadian Oil Sands Network for Research and Development (CONRAD) are pleased to announce the Second International Oil Sands Tailings Conference (IOSTC) on December 5-8, 2010, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The call for papers announcement is provided in the Download section below.
Tailings and Mine Waste
The Oil Sands Tailings Research Facility (OSTRF) and the University of Alberta Geotechnical Centre recently hosted "Tailings and Mine Waste '09" on November 1-4, 2009 at the Banff Springs Hotel, Banff, Alberta, Canada. It was intended to bring together the technical community to discuss the state-of-the-art with respect to tailings and mine wastes and to discuss issues related to the impact of mine wastes on the environment. The proceedings inlcuded 80 technical papers. The conference presentations are available for download at http://ostrfdownload.civil.ualberta.ca/. They are organized accroding to the conference agenda.
Colorada State University is hosting Tailings and Mine Waste 2010 in Vail, Colorado from October 17-20, 2010. The conference brochure is available for download below.
Australian Centre for Geomechanics: Upcoming Events

The Austrailian Centre for Geomechanics (ACG) is hosting the First International Seminar on the Reduction of Risk in the Management of Tailings and Mine Waste in Perth, Western Australia, September 29-October 1, 2010 (www.minewaste2010.com) . 1st International Oil Sands Tailings Conference 2008
The OSTRF and the Canadian Oil Sands Network for Research and Development (CONRAD) held the First International Oil Sands Tailings Conference (IOSTC) on December 7-10, 2008, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada at the Mayfield Inn and Suites. With 37 presenters, including 11 keynote speakers, the conference attracted over 260 delegates from around the world. OSTRF Student-Industry Interaction Days

OSTRF Demonstrations
The OSTRF hosted technology demonstrations to industry sponsors on July 9 and September 26, 2008. The novel dewatering technologies were presented to provide industry with early exposure to these developments in consideration of the new directive on managing tailings.
