The Oil Sands Tailings Research Facility operations are directed and managed through a Management Committee consisting of representatives from the Tailings Environmental Priority Area (EPA) of Canada's Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA). Scientific collaboration will be maintained with COSIA's Tailings (EPA) to ensure that the fundamental research projects are focused on problems of industrial significance and to assist with technology transfer.
The Management Committee will be responsible for setting long-term research and strategy directions, approve the operating budget and raise ongoing operating funds. In conjunction with the Principle Investigator, the management committee will also develop and recommend research priorities, ensure research is of the highest international standards and meets the needs of all stakeholders. The Principal Investigator will have the overall responsibility for the scientific program, financial operation of the facility, and to organize workshops, symposiums, and conferences.
